Project Tomato
Project Tomato is an affordable way to help bring local ingredients into children’s lunches AND you
don’t even have to leave your house to help make
this happen!
In May of 2018 we had 50 determinate tomato plants that found a home. Once the fruit was ripe these healthy tomatoes were dropped off to be stored for the sauce making. We purchased additional organic Romas from Gitto Farms of Watertown. There was enough sauce to get through 2019-2020!
During the summer of 2020 the community came through with tomatoes! We had a handful of community members grow plants we bought from Sprouting Acres Organic Farm and then give us their bounty. We were also very fortunate that community members graciously donated their tomatoes from their own gardens. We had almost twice the amount we produced in 2018! Janice, the Food Service Director, and her husband made over 55 gallons of Signature Pizza Sauce for school lunches!
Now it's 2022 and we need more tomatoes! If you would like to grow a few plants at home or have extra tomatoes from your own crop, we would love your help! Please fill out the form above to get
tomato plants.
